About

Specialty Polymers is a dynamic, family-owned manufacturer of water-based polymers and adhesives. Our products are designed to meet the most demanding needs of customers around the world, and our employees are committed to providing the best customer service in the industry.

Our roots date back to 1969, when Ray Southwell started Specialty Polymers in Woodburn, Ore., with a goal to provide high quality, innovative solutions to the coatings industry. Since then, Specialty Polymers has grown to include multiple manufacturing sites and a portfolio of more than 500 innovative products.

Today, Sheryl Southwell continues to build on her father’s legacy, and is committed to strengthening the company’s operations, expanding markets served and providing superior customer service.

Specialty has more than 100,000 square feet of combined manufacturing and warehouse capacity at our East and West Coast sites. To support our growing business, we continue to invest in increasing our production capability, as well as our customer technical development and support team. Recently, we expanded our polymer synthesis and applications labs at our Chester, SC site. In January 2016 we completed a major expansion at our Chester plant, adding a state-of-the-art 6,000-gallon reactor.

For adhesive needs, we also manufacture our own line of high-performance industrial and consumer adhesives. Sold under the Roo Glue® name, these products are used by some of the largest plywood and door manufacturers in the world as well as general consumers and hobbyists.

Our latest venture, TorZo Surfaces, allows us to combine our expertise in polymers with our commitment to minimizing environmental impact. Infusing various salvage and renewable materials results in visually stunning (and supremely durable) surface materials unlike anything the architectural and design communities have ever seen.
